His vazhaipazham comedy in the film Karagattakaran was very famous among people. He and Senthil are noted as the Laurel and Hardy of Tamil film industry. His first film in Tamil was Annakkili released in 1976. Though his original name was Subramani, he was commonly called Mani and his role in the drama Oor Gounder stuck to his name and came to be called Goundamani. He married Shanti and has two daughters Selvi and Sunita. He started his career as a theatre artist and from there he entered the film industry. His father’s name is Karuppaiya and his mother’s name is Annam. Goundamani was born on 18 th March 1950 in Valagundapuram near Udumalapettai in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. He started his acting career in 1977 and his career spans over 35 years. He has paired with another popular comedian Senthil in many films. Goundamani is an Indian film actor and comedian performing in the films of Tamil language.
